Why did Azub choose Bosch?
The Bosch Purion Color display.

Azub thinks the recumbent world deserves to have the best Bosch engines widely available. At the same time, Bosch offers fabulous customer service and, importantly for Azub, excellent communication with the bike manufacturers. Consumers are also delighted with the large number of working features and accessories. Azub also likes the Dual Battery option a lot as it gives you the ability to run up to 1600 Wh on their recumbents, giving you an almost infinite range of roughly 200 miles on ECO mode, or easily 60 miles with full BOOST.
Rohloff electronic shifting module.

The option of Rohloff’s electronic shifting, which is also available only for Bosch motors, eliminates the biggest drawback of the Rohloff gear hub, which is shifting via the grip, which requires a relatively large amount of force. You also have the ability to connect a phone and use the Bosch e-Bike Flow app, which offers a lot of clever features like Range Control, so you can adjust the level of assistance so that you arrive at your destination with your chosen remaining battery capacity.

But the main thing for Azub is the engine’s behavior combined with its reliability. The Azub Team has a lot of experience with the reliability of Bosch motors because many people at AZUB use Tern cargo bikes in everyday urban traffic for taking kids to school, commuting to work, etc. Their enthusiasm has been even more elevated by the experience they had over the last few weeks taking the AZUB Ti-FLY 26 with the Bosch Performance CX motor to the US and Canada. They tested climbing with the trike on Pikes Peak in Colorado, a 14,115-foot mountain known for its challenging car races. Their colleague, Jan, basically flew up and used just over half of both batteries. Yet he was running on BOOST the whole time and really giving the engine a hard time. A week later, they also tested the Bosch on the MTB trails in British Columbia, Canada, where they shook their heads and could hardly believe how exceptional this motor was.

For the record, please also note that Azub has also dropped the Shimano EP801 and Brose Smag motors from their lineup. However, they are still keeping the Shimano EP6 in the range as a basic motor for less demanding use.
